Frequently asked questions

  • Cancellation

Is there any charge for cancellation?

With all but one of our suppliers (Solcar, with whom payment is normally made in advance), no cancellation charge applies. Just let us know by email if you need to cancel.

  • Cross border

Can I drive the car outside of Spain?

This depends on the car hire company that you book with. However, in general, travel to France, Andorra and Portugal is permitted as long as a crossborder surcharge is paid. You can find more information for each of our suppliers on our quote page.

  • Delivery

Can my hire car be delivered to my accommodation?

Generally, our suppliers are unable to make local deliveries. Occasionally, it is possible to arrange delivery from local offices. Delivery to accommodation from airport offices is never possible.

  • Driver age

What's the minimum age permitted?

This varies from one company to another. 21 years old is normally the minimum age permitted, but some companies allow 19 and 20 year old drivers. All drivers under the age of 25 are considered young drivers and a young driver surcharge applies. Bear in mind also that many companies allow young drivers to hire only their smaller vehicles.

Is there a maximum age?

Most of our suppliers don't have a maximum age, however this can be at the discretion of their office staff (i.e. they might consider a very elderly person not capable of driving safely). A senior driver surcharge applies with several of our suppliers. Please refer to the conditions for each of our suppliers on our quote page.

  • Fuel

What's the fuel policy?

The most common fuel policy with our suppliers is full-full. This means that the vehicle is delivered with a full tank of fuel and you will be expected to deliver the vehicle back with a full tank. Normally, you will be charged for the fuel in the tank on collection and this initial charge will be refunded when you return full. If you return less than full, the refund will be proportional and, depending on the supplier, a fuel service charge may be applicable.

Can I book a diesel vehicle?

It isn't normally possible to specify preferred fuel type. However, some of our suppliers have vehicle groups which are specifically diesel.

  • Long-term hire

I will be staying in Spain for an extended period. Do you offer long-term hire?

The maximum contract length with most of our suppliers is around 28- 30 days. A few of our suppliers do allow longer contracts (up to around 90 days). However, rates for hire periods of longer than a month aren't normally very competitive. So, if you do need to hire for a long period, it's usually best to look at booking on a monthly basis. By this means, you'll be able to take advantage of the best rates available each month. We'll be happy to look at your requirements and get back to you with your best option. Please feel free to drop us an email and we'll see what we can do.

  • Modifications

Can I extend my booking?

Once you have picked up your hire car, extensions are not normally possible. Instead, you will have to return to the office and start a new contract. If you need to extend your booking before you travel, some of our suppliers allow modifications whilst others don't. If they don't, a new booking would be required.

I have noticed that the price on your website has dropped since I booked. Can I have the car at the current, cheaper price?

These days prices are pretty much constantly on the move and often our suppliers will, if demand is low, drop prices. This means that if you have booked a vehicle well in advance, a better rate might become available close to the pick-up date. The great thing about booking with Bravo is that you're welcome to re-book whenever (as you can cancel the original booking completely free of charge). Note that if you would like to take advantage of a lower rate it will need to be a new booking. So, if you do see a lower rate, just send us through a new booking request. Once confirmed, we can cancel the original booking.

If I return the car early, will I get a refund?

No. Unless exceptional circumstances apply (e.g. death in the family, hospitalization), no refund will be made for unused days if the vehicle is returned early.

  • One-way hire

Can I drop the car off at another location?

Many of our suppliers will allow one-way hire from one to another of their offices. Those that don't allow one-ways at present are Leasys, Niza Cars and Record. A one-way charge always applies, and the amount of the charge is, in general, proportional to the distance between the offices (e.g. 25€ for a one-way between offices in the same city to 170€ for a one-way across Spain). If you do need a one-way hire, please contact us and we'll get back to you with your best option.

  • Payment

What type of debit cards are accepted?

Visa and MasterCard debit cards (not prepaid) are accepted by all of our suppliers. Visa Electron is normally also fine, but please let us know if you intend to use this type of card so that we can double check with the car hire company in question. Maestro is more problematic and, at present, is only accepted by one of our suppliers (Goldcar). Note that the card used must be nominative, i.e. show the cardholder's name.

Can payment be made by anyone present on pick-up?

No, payment must normally be made by the named main driver of the vehicle. One of our suppliers, Record, allows payment to be made by another person in the group. In this case, the booking must be made in the name of the card holder and the driver will be added to the contract as an extra driver (with corresponding extra driver charge).

When do I make payment?

With all but one of our suppliers (Solcar), payment is made 100% on pick-up. When you book your car online, neither a deposit nor your credit card details are required. Easy and safe. No payment in advance, no hassle should you need to cancel!

  • Traffic fines

What happens if I get a speeding ticket?

If you are fined for speeding, the traffic authority will initially send the fine notification to the car rental company. The car rental company will then inform the traffic authority of your name and postal address so that they can send you the fine. Once you receive the fine, it's advisable to make payment a.s.a.p. as the penalty is normally reduced by 50% if paid promptly. The fine notification includes details of how the fine can be paid online.
